Team ClearCom sponsored by Acton Coachworks :: 2009 update
Acton Coachworks' sponsorship of Team ClearCom rider, Dean Bowling has continued throughout the 2009 season. We take a look back at the season so far ...

What championship do Team ClearCom race in?

At present we race in the Bmcrc/MRO championship, both bikes run in an open class for bikes up to 1300cc meaning you are allowed to carry out any modification you see fit. This championship is a stepping stone to the British championship and is said to be one of the toughest championship to compete in. Whilst Dean runs in the very competitive Powerbike class, Philip runs in the Rookie 1000 class.

About Team ClearCom:

It was born in 2007 and was a joint venture between Club racer Dean Bowling and Clearcom Digital Ltd. In 2007/08 we ran one Ducati 1098s however for the 2009 championship we hope to run two bikes the 1098s and a Ducati 999r.

The Bikes:

Ducati 1098s
Over the winter the bike was sent to Go Racing Developments to have a total strip down and engine rebuild ready for the 2009 season, using pistol race pistons, JHP gas flowed heads, lightened crank and flywheel, titanium conrods, this was done to achieve an almost level playing field with the jap bikes. The nemesis programmable race ECU was fitted and JHP engine maps programmed into it. To help increase the power the new Akrapovic EVOLUTION exhaust system was fitted New up rated and adjustable front brake master cylinder and brake lines were also fitted and race pads installed. To help in the ever competitive racing world renthal quick change sprocket carrier and sprockets where fitted. New pierobon lightweight front and rear sub frames where also fitted. Also added was the new TTX45 rear shock as used by the works Ducati teams and 25mm front fork internals. Lastly (for now) a set of PVM lightweight 16.5" magnesium rims where fitted with Michelin power one slicks.

Ducati 999r
This is a stock bike so has little engine work done to it. It does have the Ducati Corse super stock gearbox and ECU. Pierobon race front and rear sub frames A quick action throttle and Termignoni super stock exhaust system together with BST carbon fibre rims shod with Pirelli race tech tyres.

Both bikes are fitted with light weight race fairings immaculately prepared and painted by our sponsor Acton Coachworks. If not for our racing ability we are talk of the paddock for this alone.

The 2009 season so far

Riders:
Dean Bowling Ducati 1098 running in MRO powerbikes
Philip Roots Ducati 999 running in Rookie 1000's

Well the season started badly for dean with a blown gearbox that would see him miss the opening round at brands hatch, a bitter disappointment to him as his main sponsor Philip had taken up the challenge and was ridding the Ducati 999 in the rookie 1000cc class. With dean having to be mechanic for the weekend, which was overall a success with Philip getting two fourth place finishes and a second place in the race on Sunday morning. With Dean's bike delivered back complete with new Nova Race gearbox it was off to Brand Hatch testing. With the test complete and a bike seemingly running ok it was off to the next round with some optimism. But all was not well as the bike developed a miss fire and yet again dean was sidelined. With the prospect of not racing it was decided that dean would compete using the Ducati 999 until the mystery fault was fixed, tested and proven to be no more, (this would prove to be a pain staking and time consuming process), With the fault eventually being a hair line crack in the front cylinder barrel, Engine rebuilt by Mark at Go Racing Developments. By now we were over half way through the season and Dean had had some enjoyable results on a bike considerably underpowered compared to the 180+ BHP of the front runners. With only a few races left till the end of season it was a far from ideal situation in the championship but all things considered we had done better than we could have hoped for. The next round was again at Brands Hatch as the Champion of Brands title was up for grabs with both Dean and Philip competing in their respective classes. With the weekend going well for both bikes they came away in buoyant moods and are now testing at Lydden hill race circuit ready for The Final Round Of the Season "Lord Of Lydden" at the end of Oct.

So what for next year?

Well with some new classes in the pipeline we wait to see which class each rider will decide best suits there ability. Will we be on Ducati's? Well that's a very unanswerable question at this time. With sponsorship getting ever harder to come by we are at that time of year when nothing is certain. Apart from the fact we will both be on the grid for the first round at Brands Hatch in April 2010. Together with a third rider Dan Roots who will be racing for the first time as a rookie in the Mini twin class, after a frustrating year sidelined by a near fatal motorbike road accident which saw him hospitalised for 16 days and a year to recover from his injuries. (I guess some peoples love for bikes far outweighs there common sense)

One last thing

May we take this opportunity to thank all our Sponsors for there continuing support in this difficult financial period.

What is car detailing and paintwork correction?

Car detailing is the process of an extremely thorough cleaning, polishing and waxing of car, to produce a showroom-quality level of detail. Besides improving appearance, detailing also helps to preserve the resale value of a car.

The three main components of exterior car detailing are cleaning, polishing, and protecting. Acton Coachworks provide a comprehensive car detailing service that protects and  enhances your vehicles appearance. We use only the finest waxes, polishes and cleaning products on the market and proven detailing techniques.

Paint Correction is a technique designed to remove blemishes to a car's paintwork that normal valeting or car detailing will not remove (such as such as dull and faded paintwork, swirl marks, light scratches and scuffs, key scratches and damage caused by bird droppings). Not only can paint correction make your car look as a"good as new", it also can be a much more economical option than a complete respray.

Car detailing
Car detailing - offers benefits to almost any car by significantly improving the appearance of your car, without the time and cost associated in seeking to achieve perfect paint correction. This is popular for newly aquired used cars, improving the appearance of a presently owned car, and helping to present a vehicle in it’s best light for sale.

Following a thorough cleaning process that will cleanse and decontaminate your car's paintwork, advanced polishes are used via a polishing machine to restore depth and gloss to your paint. In this process, light scratches and swirls marks will be removed or hugely improved, making the car look fresh and bright again. You might have started to notice your car's paintwork starting to look a little dull, the reflections in the paint just a bit flat. With our car detailing process, you’ll be amazed to see the lifeless paint restored to a lustrous, rich finish.

Once the polishing stage is completed, your paintwork will benefit from the protection of a fine wax. The addition of a wax is vital to make ongoing cleaning easy. Bugs are much easier to remove in the summer, general dirt and grime is easy to remove all year round. Wax, compared to a synthetic sealant like Supaguard or Lifeshine offers better resistance to damage caused by bird droppings and the like, meaning your car stays looking better, for longer.

The wheels on your car receive special attention too, by way of a wheel wax. Trim and seals are treated with a protective dressing and any bare metalwork is polished and sealed.

Your interior will be vacuumed, dusted and dressed. Further interior treatments such as carpet shampooing and a full grain leather clean are available. Car detailing can often be carried out in a day.

New Car Detail’s are available from £350.

Paint correction
Paint Correction - designed to restore your car's the paintwork back to the finest finish possible. Often car detailing alone is not sufficient to remove more serious scratches and other paintwork imperfections

Paintwork correction involves 2-3 stages of polishing, from removing the defects and levelling the paint, to refinement using fine polishes to add gloss, depth and clarity to the finish.

Once the paintwork is refined a protection stage is involved using a wax or sealant to form a protective barrier against the elements.

The above procedures are fairly time consuming and often need to take place over 2-5 days some requiring longer periods dependant on condition. In most cases where possible, before giving a quote the vehicle is viewed and a test comparison is provided to obtain what is achievable, all of which is non obligational. If the vehicle cannot be viewed beforehand it is important that an honest description of the condition is given, which enables us to price accordingly and allow adequate time to complete.

New Car Detail’s are available from £475.

New car protection detail
New Car Protection Detail - a service offered to prepare and protect your new or nearly new vehicle, designed to help protect your investment and make it very easy to care for.

Belive it or not, many new cars have paint defects caused either by contamination in storage, transportation or due to main dealer pre-delivery cleaning. More often than not car dealerships will try to sell you their own protection package, they will bring in franchised or on site valeters who are usually inexperienced in the art of preparing your vehicle prior to you receiving it. Products are only as good as the preparation, and in most dealerships the valeters are given minimal time, poor products, and little training in how best to deal with your car. Acton Coachworks will detail and protect your vehicle to a faultless standard, so you can enjoy it with peace of mind throughout the length of your ownership.

All areas of your car receive attention. After making sure the paint is spotlessly clean, wax is applied to the paintwork and left to cure. Your alloy wheels are treated to reduce the build up of brake dust which corrodes the wheel surface, and make it easy to clean off. Inside, the carpets and mats are covered with protectant, and leather upholstery is sealed to minimize dirt build up, and on light colour leather, dye transfer from clothes.

New Car Detailing is available from £300.
